Two Great Days Out for Children

by Communications Team

Over the course of two days last week.  Berkshire’s Freemasons funded coach travel for two day trips to both Chessington World of Adventures and Thorpe Park.  The arrangements were made with Reading Family Aid to have younger children go to Chessington World of Adventures.  Then the following day for older children to go to Thorpe Park.  With the Coaches funded for the return trips on both days, Grass Rootz were in charge of arranging the entry to the two chosen destinations.

The excited groups, that together numbered over one hundred people; were waved off on both days by representatives of Berkshires Freemasons, Reading Family Aid and the Grass Rootz Charities.

Mark Heppelthwaite, the Deputy Leader of Berkshire Freemasons said, “Despite the chilly weather, the children were beaming with excitement and joy at where they were going.  It’s a privilege to be able to make this happen for them.  Children are so very special to our members, as we nearly all have families of our own.” Ruth Perkins of Reading Family Aid said, “We’re so grateful for the support given to the children we help by the Berkshire Freemasons.  We really didn’t imagine them be quite so supportive this year and it’s a delight to see the children so happy.”
