Preparing For The Master’s Chair Course

by Neill Rhodes

Dear Lodge Wardens and Deacons

Preparing For The Master’s Chair Course

I am delighted to announce the details of this year’s Preparing for the Master’s Chair course. The sessions are to support those Brethren who are on the path to becoming Master of their lodge for the first time. The role of Worshipful Master is a very exciting honour which should be the most wonderful experience, but it can bring with it some levels of uncertainty. It is our desire to help you in your preparations and offer support to you to enable maximum enjoyment and success.

This course is ideal for anyone who is at least in a Deacon role at present and is especially useful for Wardens. Similar courses have been very popular in previous years. One of the key benefits, aside from the content and the general support, is to meet and exchange ideas with others who are at a similar stage of their Masonic journey.

There are two sessions, held in person at Sindlesham. You should try to attend both.

As a preamble to the course we would like you to listen to this presentation titled “Seven Habits of Highly Successful Lodges” This presentation offers some thought provoking topics which will assist you, not only in your year as Master but also as a Lodge Officer.

In addition, it is clear that learning ritual remains the number one worry for most junior officers as they progress. We are therefore holding a workshop entitled “Learning and Delivering Effective Ritual” at 7:30pm on Monday 15th May. We hope that this will be a useful precursor to the June sessions, allowing them to focus more on the leadership aspects of being in the chair of the lodge. Details of how to book into this workshop CLICK HERE. Please do pass on the details to other members of your lodges.

We look forward to welcoming you at these sessions

Yours sincerely and fraternally,

Matthew Walker, PSGD
Assistant Provincial Grand Master
