PGM’s Christmas Message 2023

by Peter Wells

As we approach the Christmas Festive season, I am acutely aware of the emotional challenges many have faced throughout the year. Yet, in the midst of personal trials, I find myself captivated by the infectious spirit of joy and excitement that defines the essence of this The Special Province.

In my view, The Province of Berkshire stands out, not just for its seasonal celebrations, but for its year-round commitment to goodwill and belonging. This spirit is not something we can afford to lose and I am consistently reinvigorated as I witness the unwavering enthusiasm for Freemasonry in every corner of our Province. The camaraderie, companionship, dedication and talent that permeate Berkshire are truly breathtaking.

Meeting old friends, companions and welcoming new initiates are special highlights and remind me of the remarkable individuals within our organisation. The desire to contribute, coupled with the impressive accomplishments of the past year, reinforces our collective strength. We have set ambitious goals for the next seven years and I am confident that, as ‘One Organisation on One Journey,’ we will meet and exceed the Challenge.

The heart of our Province beats through each member, Lodge and Chapter, emphasising that our strength is rooted in the contributions of individual brethren and companions. This year’s Annual Report is testimony to that and makes compelling reading. Your goodwill and commitment drive us forward, not only within Freemasonry but also in the positive impact we make on the communities we call home. I extend my gratitude to your partners and families for their invaluable support, enabling us to achieve what we do.

As evidenced by the increasing interest with over 240 initial enquiries and a further 170 in the pipeline, Freemasonry is as relevant today as it has always been. Nevertheless, every member plays a vital role in spreading our message and inviting others to share in the richness of what we have to offer.

As we reflect on the achievements of 2023, I want to express my heartfelt thanks for your unwavering support and commitment to the success of the Province of Berkshire. Serving as your Provincial Grand Master and Grand Superintendent is a privilege and I look forward to sharing the journey ahead with you.

With all my heart, I wish you and your loved ones a Happy Christmas filled with joy and warmth. Take the time to make it special, recharge your batteries and return to your Lodges and Chapters ready to embrace the opportunities that 2024 holds. I look forward to your company and seeing you again then.
