Newbury Freemasons Donate £2000

by Peter Wells

The Loyal Berkshire Lodge of Hope, No. 574, one of Berkshires oldest Lodges, who meet at Newbury; have just donated over £2000 to the Pituitary Foundation Charity.  David Hunter, the WM, and his wife Judith got involved with the foundation at the time when their son was 17 years old and was diagnosed with a pituitary tumour.  Judith, also helped further with the Charity’s helpline by volunteering, answering phone calls.  In thanking David for the Lodge’s gift, Jay Shepherd the Head of Fundraising for the Charity said, “This donation will make a huge difference to our work as a small Charity.  We give guidance directly via our Support and Information Helpline and specialist Endocrine Nurse Helpline, as well as offering expert, up-to-date, online resources.”

The members of the Lodge raised this sum through a Ladies Festival held earlier this year.
