New Masons Evening – 29th Nov

by Peter Wells

Last night, 24 Masons and some of their partners and children who are new to Freemasonry were hosted by our Provincial Grand Master, Anthony Howlett – Bolton OBE, his executive and members of the Light Blues Club at Sindlesham. The initiative which is done every 6 months is designed to formally welcome them to our Province by the executive and highlight the next stages of their journey and introduce them to the Light Blues Club and the aims of the club.

The evening started with welcoming remarks from Paul Youngman chair of the Light Blues Club, followed by a 2-course meal. Even our very own PGM was seen serving Ice Cream at one stage to a very young attendee! After dinner, the group spilt into 2 groups to have a presentation on the Light Blues Club and the other group headed off to visit the Berkshire Masonic Museum. The presentation highlighted the Light Blues Club, our events and communications channels we have along with the possibilities that new masons have which end with the completion of a journey with the Royal Arch.

The evening finished with a visit to the main temple and a 15 min history of freemasonry from the Assistant Provincial Grand Master – Iain Marnoch OBE, who explained how the temple is laid out and the significance of masonic history. The Provincial Grand Master then made his closing remarks which highlighted our core values and the need to enjoy masonry as part of the great journey we all take as Craft Masons and the support we need from our families.
