Last Sunday (29th June) on one of the hottest days of the year 33 Berkshire Freemasons and Friends have completed a mammoth 40 mile ride from Newbury to Windsor, with a well earned stop at Sindlesham. The ride named as the ” method of advancing from West to East” was the brainchild of W Bro Martin Hayes from Aldworth Lodge and was supported by our Provincial Grand Charity Steward of Berkshire Freemasons who had nominated the @https://me2club.org.uk as the benefactors of this charity ride at the Charity Stewards Conference earlier in the Year.

The team set off just before 10am after a motivational pep talk from our DPGM Mark Heppelthwaite, and numerous well wishers at Newbury. We were joined on the road by our Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Matthew Walker and a fine body of Brethren and Friends from across the Province.
The team came back together at Sindlesham where many stories were shared over an athletic Cornish Pasty as refuelling was key for the next leg to Windsor. We were soon on our way and made it to Windsor in time to enjoy a well earned refreshment. We were joined by our DPGM and our Berkshire Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies for the second leg.
Charitable giving is a key pillar of our masonic work in the community and we are pleased to say that we have raised close to £3000 for the @https://me2club.org.uk. We hope this number will continue to grow over the next few days.
Special mention must go to W Bro Andrew Morris for completing the course. Chapeau as they say in cycling.
A true Berkshire Masonic day. Well done everyone who rode and supported.

“ It was fantastic to see the brethren come together to raise such a generous amount for Me2 Club already over £3,000 and still climbing. Firstly, a big thank you to Martin Hayes for organising the event so smoothly. A huge thanks as well to everyone who took part or sponsored the riders. While Andrew Morris and Neill Rhodes didn’t finish first, the sheer effort they put in was recognised by all, and they absolutely earned their top effort awards. And a final thank you to Hannah from Me2 Club for welcoming everyone so warmly at the finish line in Windsor. If anyone else would like to contribute, sponsorship is still open for a couple of weeks. Me2 Club is an inclusion charity providing support for children and young people aged 5+ with additional needs and disabilities in Berkshire. Their mission is to help children with disabilities feel confident, independent, and included, while learning life skills and making new friends.”
