Funding for Chemotherapy charity

by Paul Thomsett

Chemogiftbags is a Berkshire based charity that provide, as the name suggests, gift bags to those undergoing chemotherapy. Specifically, the charity is focused on sufferers of breast cancer.

Everything that is included in a gift bag has been thought through based on the charity’s founders own experience with chemotherapy and feedback from sufferers. The contents contained within the gift bags are aimed at supporting a person throughout their chemotherapy journey.

The contents include a cushion , blanket and eye mask. Quality quilts, to keep recipients warm even in the weather is warm, as chemo patients get very cold. Puzzle books to keep patients occupied and the brain active. Heart shaped cushions, for under the arm and under the breast after surgery as it can relieve some of the discomfort. Non-alcoholic mouthwash as it can otherwise interfere with chemo treatment. Natural toiletries, natural due to chemicals in some brands. and many other items.

The charity has just received a total £2,000 from Berkshire Freemasons, which included £1,000 from the Berkshire Masonic Charity which was match funded by the Masonic Charitable Foundation.

Lynne Shipton, the founder of the charity said “On behalf of Chemogiftbags and the cancer patients we serve, we would like to express our deepest gratitude for the generous grant you have given us. Your support means a lot to us and will go a long way in helping us continue our mission of providing comfort and care to those undergoing chemotherapy.

With your help, we will be able to reach more patients and provide them with the necessary resources and items they need to make their treatment journey a little bit easier. Your generosity will help us provide them with a Chemogiftbag filled with useful items such as water bottles for while they are having chemo and keep their fluids up, blankets, and natural toiletries, heart shaped cushions as well as other essential items that can help ease their discomfort during chemotherapy.

We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and generosity. Your support will make a real difference in the lives of those battling cancer, and we appreciate your commitment to making a positive impact in the community”.
