Over the past year, Freemasons from Berkshire have hosted the Masonic Annual Charity Event (MACE), bringing members together from across the country for a series of bowling fundraisers. Their efforts have raised an impressive £9,000 in support of two nominated charities:
- The Berkshire Panto Project – a local initiative that gives children, who might not otherwise have the opportunity, the chance to experience the magic of pantomime.
- Action for Children – a national charity providing vital support for children and young people across the UK.

The fundraising was organised by the Berkshire Masonic Bowling Association (BMBA), with proceeds split equally between the two causes.
Trevor White, President of the BMBA, presented £4,500 to Sam Jones, Regional Partnerships Manager at Action for Children, during a dinner at Berkshire’s Masonic Headquarters in Sindlesham.
Action for Children delivers practical and emotional care, ensures children’s voices are heard, and campaigns for lasting change. With 426 services across the UK, the charity supported more than 765,000 children, young people and families in 2022/23.
Sam Jones said:
“Wow. This donation will help to lift more children out of poverty and provide essentials that they need. Thank you all for your amazing efforts.”
The remaining £4,500 has been allocated to the Berkshire Panto Project. While Father Christmas was unable to attend the presentation, the funds have already been transferred to ensure the pantomime goes ahead later this year – bringing festive joy to children across the county.
