In response to the old memories revived section, a story of a Masonic Ball held by the Loyal Berkshire Lodge of Hope, 125 years ago.

I am the current Worshipful Master of this Lodge and the weekend of 3rd and 4th of February we had our Ladies Festival in a Bournemouth hotel, the equivalent to the ball held back then. The 84 guests started to arrive on Friday afternoon where an informal three course meal was followed by a fun horse race evening.

A day of leisure on the Saturday, with the main evening event starting at 5pm with pre-dinner drinks. A five course meal was followed by a raffle and auction. Dancing started around 5pm to the tunes of JJ and the Jukes, an excellent 3 piece rock and roll band and went on until the early hours.

All in aid of my chosen charity for the year, which is the Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The generosity of the Brethren, their friends and family who attended was astonishing, with a grand total of £4000 raised at this event. This is the first event for a few years because of Covid, but we look forward to future events.
