Alfred the Great is a small, friendly lodge, meeting on the first Monday in October through to our installation in March, with two Lodges of Instruction per month from October to March. We meet in the market town of Wantage, at the foot of the Berkshire Downs, and near the White Horse of Uffington. King Alfred The Great was born in Wantage, hence the name of the lodge.

Each meeting is followed by the festive board, which is much appreciated by members and guests alike for the quality of the food. Our Worshipful Master is WBro. Peter King, and this is his second time in the Chair of King Solomon. Each year we hope to conduct the three Craft ceremonies – that is the First, Second and Third degree. The Secretary of the Lodge is always willing to progress an application for membership if requested.Freemasonry in general and our Lodge in particular believe we demonstrate the principles of kindness, honesty, fairness, tolerance and integrity.
