Upcoming Meetings
The Combined Services Lodge is relatively new having been formed in 2014. We are considered a speciality Lodge with all of our members either serving now, or having served in the Military in some form or another. This bond makes our Lodge unique and provides a good basis for camaraderie, along with a little gentle inter-service rivalry.
Military ethos and camaraderie are closely aligned to the principles of Freemasonry, and our Lodge gives the opportunity to combine some military traditions into the normal Masonic fabric of a lodge, which makes for unique and enjoyable experience. Our meetings are always fun and friendly, and we can assure prospective members of a warm welcome.
Being a member of our Lodge can offer you:
Camaraderie and friendship with likeminded, serving and ex-military friends
An opportunity to raise money for local, national and Military related charities
A chance for self-improvement and to remain mentally active and improve your public speaking
The Lodge is part of the Circuit of Service Lodges offering a wider Military network and attendance at events they organise
What makes us different from other Lodges
As a Military Lodge we aim to bring a Military feel to our meetings. This is seen in how bugle calls are played prior to the meeting and the dinner, the fact that we wear miniature medals or decorations at dinner, the various military based toasts that we observe, and numerous other aspects and quirks you will likely recognise from your time in the services.
Membership
Membership is open to both serving and ex-military personnel, of all ranks, of all arms and Services, and we have members from a wide spread of Military units and ranks.
The Lodge is part of the Masonic Province of Berkshire and meets at the Masonic Centre in Sindlesham (near Wokingham). We meet officially four times a year on the second Monday in February, and first Mondays in June, September, and November. These formal meetings begin at 18:00 and are followed by a meal (known as the Festive Board), and are usually concluded prior to 22.00. We also meet informally for a couple of hours, for a number of months during the year. These meetings are less formal and usually end with a beer in the bar.
