Commercial Temperance Lodge no 3144 was formed in 1906, and held its first meeting in February of that year. The lodge was formed by a number of freemasons, all of whom were Commercial Travellers with many being members of the Commercial Travellers Lodge no 2795. Following an initial meeting in 1905 a number of important decisions were made:

1. First, and most importantly, that a new lodge should be formed.
2. Second that it be called Commercial Temperance; “Temperance understood to mean the total absence of all intoxicants at the Banquet & meetings in connection thereof.”
3. Third that it should meet on the second Saturday of February, June, October and December.
4. Dates later changed to first Saturday of March, June, October and December

When deciding that a new lodge should be formed two of the potential new lodge membership toured London and surrounding counties to find a suitable home for the new lodge. Having visited many masonic temples they finally decided on Windsor.
Since the first meeting held in 1906 Commercial Temperance has held over 465 meetings.
All of our meetings start at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and are followed by a festive board which is currently held at the Slough Masonic Centre.
We currently have a membership of 22 very active members who are always prepared to help one and other out.
We are proud that we maintain the rules of the lodge set up by the founders in as much as alcoholic drink is still not allowed to be included in our dining fees, however that does not prevent members and guests purchasing a small libation to accompany the Festive Board at their own expense.
