Berkshire Masonic Charity – Supporting our Members and The Local Community in this time of crisis
The BMC management team meet fortnightly working closely with the Provincial Almoner, Charity Steward and the MCF to co-ordinate the sources of funds available to help both our members and those in the wider community who are in need during this unprecedented Covid 19 crisis.
Berkshire Community Foundation (BCF). With Matched Funding from the MCF, the BMC have been able to make a donation totalling £5000 to the BCF’s “Vital for Berkshire Coronavirus Fund” to support victims of domestic abuse, mental health and vulnerable children.
ARC Wokingham. A grant of £1630 from the MCF’s Covid 19 Fund has been approved for this local counselling service for the purchase of tablets to facilitate virtual face to face counselling to ease the current waiting list for telephone appointments.
Ramgarhia Sabha Reading. A £3,000 grant has been paid from the Regional Communications Group 5 Covid Fund to help fund food and shelter for the homeless in Reading.
Grants were also made by the BMC to Reading Association for the Blind, Growing Places Berkshire and Step by Step.
The MCF continues to support families and individuals in need in Berkshire and four new cases were submitted and have been approved for support
Don’t suffer in silence. Further to the Provincial Grand Almoner’s message:
- If you are, or are aware of, a brother in need or an urgent community need please contact your Lodge Almoner in the first instance or if unavailable the Provincial Grand Almoner: email@example.com
- The Lodge Almoner will then make an application to the BMC’s Applications Secretary: firstname.lastname@example.org
- The BMC Applications Committee will consider each application on its merits and if decided the case should be supported will progress the application towards the most suitable source of funding for a final decision.
